Privacy policy

JustGetTheRecipe exists to remove clutter, and that philosophy extends to your data: we collect as little as possible, and we never sell it or show you ads.
What we store
Without an account: nothing about you. When you convert a recipe link, we fetch that public page, extract the recipe, and keep a cached copy of the extracted recipe (keyed by the page's URL) so the next conversion is instant. This cache contains recipe content, not anything about who requested it.
With an account: your email address, the recipes you choose to save, and your grocery list items. That's the full list. Your saved data is protected by row-level security - it is only readable by you.
On your device: your unit preference (US/metric) and theme (light/dark) are stored in your browser's local storage and never leave your device.
Third-party services we rely on
Supabase hosts our database and authentication (your email and saved data live there). An AI provider (currently Google's Gemini API or Anthropic's Claude API) receives the text of recipe pages when our standard extraction can't read a page or when mining author tips - never your email, identity, or saved data. Payment processing, when Premium launches, will be handled by Stripe; card details never touch our servers.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (pages visited, approximate location, device type) so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes data under Google's privacy policy. We don't use it to identify you personally, and we never sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them in the cookie banner - you can change your choice anytime via the "Cookies" link in the footer.
Your rights
You can delete saved recipes and grocery items at any time in the app. To delete your entire account and all associated data, email [email protected] and we'll take care of it promptly. The same address answers any privacy question.
